There are various oils that may bring around an allergic reaction or sensitivity in different people and there are those that should not be used at all for aromatherapy. If you are pregnant or have certain medical conditions such as severe asthma or epilepsy you should avoid using certain essential oils. There are several effective ways of using essential oils for better health and healing. Each method has their own benefits which can target certain problems; therefore it’s important that you choose the method that will serve you best.
Bathing Essential Oils
Nothing beats a warm soothing bath at the end of a long stressful day, and adding relaxing oils can make it a truly blissful experience. Aromatic baths can be beneficial to those who have skin problems, respiratory or circulatory problems, nervous tension or stress, insomnia, muscular or menstrual pains. Simply fill a bath with warm water and add 5-10 drops of a mild essential oil into the bath water before entering and disperse. Lavander and clary sage are ideal essential oils to use as they contain natural calming, relaxation and stress relief properties as well as helping with depression, high blood pressure and migraine.
Massage Essential Oils
Massage is a great way to enjoy aromatherapy as you receive the healing properties of the oil and the benefits of a massage. Massage therapy not only provides relaxation and relief to muscle strain and fatigue, a therapeutic massage may also improve your health, revitalising and stimulating all organs in the body, skin, muscles, nerves and glands. A huge benefit of a massage is the increase circulation of blood and lymph flow all around the body, assisting with the clearing away of toxins from the body. Simply add from one to five different essential oils such as lemon and eucalyptus to carrier oil and massage into the skin for a revitalising effect.
Steam Inhalation Essential Oils
A highly effective way to deliver essential oils into your system steam inhalation can help with respiratory tract problems and is quick and easy to setup. Steam inhalation is also great for helping with people suffering from blocked sinuses or congestions during those cold winter months. Boil water in your kettle then use a bowl or sink and fill it with boiling water, then add a few drops of peppermint or tea tree and cover your head with a towel. Ensure the towel surrounds the sink or bowl entirely to help direct the vapours; peppermint or tea tree are perfect essential oils to use for helping clear blocked sinuses.
